Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Tag

Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Tag

The lovely Val from The Innocent Smiley tagged me early in the month, and I am just sheepishly getting to this tag now. I may or may not have been consumed by a little game called Dragon Age: Inquisition this month and did a terrible job of blogging. But no matter! While I might be slow, this still sounds fun (especially since she asked about pets, oh yes) and I haven’t done a tag before. I know it says “Award” below, and what a pesky thing since we don’t do awards, but I will thank Val for the tag and answer her questions!   Rules to this shindig 1. Thank the blogger(s) who nominated you and link back to their awesome blog(s). 2. Post the award’s logo on your blog. 3. Answer the ten questions (or thirty) that you’ve been asked. 4. Nominate ten other bloggers and ask them ten… Read more »

TTT: Books we wouldn’t mind Santa bringing

TTT: Books we wouldn’t mind Santa bringing

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish where people who love lists and books can share their favorites based on a certain topic each week. Hopefully Anne and I have made the nice list and Santa will be dropping these off under our Christmas trees!   1. Tomb Raider Volume 1: Season of the Witch by Gail Simone I’m a huge fan of the Tomb Raider video game series and was completely blown away by last year’s origins reboot to the franchise. I read The Ten Thousand Immortals which is supposed to take place in between last year’s game and next year’s new release. 2. Fables: Legends in Exile by Bill Willingham I’m sort of on a graphic novel kick right now, but unfortunately, our library doesn’t have this series in stock. I also think GNs are really expensive for what you get and… Read more »

Celebrating one year with three giveaways!!

Celebrating one year with three giveaways!!

Confession time: our one year was technically December 4, but it slipped by unnoticed. I mean,  I knew we launched in December last year, but had no clue which date it really was. I estimated the 14th, but I was off by ten days. But WHO CARES because we want to celebrate with a giveaway because its the holidays and Ashley and I both really love gift giving. And this is the easiest gift giving in history because we know you all like books! Before I get to the deats, I’ll make you suffer through a little reflection. For me, this blogging thing has been addicting, frustrating and fun. Addicting because obviously is immensely satisfying when someone comments on your posts. Out in that big bad internet someone has taken the time to say something about what you’ve done. Everyone gets a kick out of that. Frustration comes in when… Read more »

Monthly Wrap-Up: NaNovember

Monthly Wrap-Up: NaNovember

Ugh, was the end of November tense or what? Oh, that was just me, because I procrastinate and have to write 30K in a week. I’m a serial procrastinator. I will put things off as long as possible if there is a deadline. I always get my shit done if it is required — say for work or personal life management, but the pressure of the deadline is what gets me motivated. I’ve said before that I pants my way through blogging, for the most part. NaNovember was a lesson in how that can bite you in the tuchus. It was also Sci-Fi November (by Rinn Reads & Oh, The Books), and while I was able to post two blogs about my favorite Sci-Fi series, I ran out of time for my word count and had to pass on writing the one I was most excited about — why Dollhouse… Read more »

Review: A Triple Knot

Review: A Triple Knot

I received a free electronic copy of A Triple Knot from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I’ve sat down to write this review several times and always ended up with a case of writer’s block. And, I think I’ve discovered the reason why. Normally, reviews are easy-ish for me to write because I either love or hate a book. But, that wasn’t the case here; it left me feeling lukewarm. Don’t get me wrong, A Triple Knot, is definitely worth reading, but it takes a little time to get into. Let me explain… If you don’t know it by now, I have a weakness for historical fiction. Which is funny, considering I loathe anything nonfiction, and most HFs are based on facts or true events, however sketchy the details may be. With that said, HFs can be a gamble. Well, for me anyways, because I tend to seek… Read more »

TTT: Books We’re Looking Forward To In 2015

TTT: Books We’re Looking Forward To In 2015

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish where people who love lists and books can share their favorites based on a certain topic each week. Here are the Top 10 Books Anne and I are looking forward to in 2015! Let me preface my picks by saying I feel somewhat silly that all my picks are YA, BUT most of the books I was really looking forward to will have already been released or won’t be until 2016. So…don’t judge me.             1. The Heir by Kiera Cass So, I loved the Selection series, and only thought it was a trilogy. However, I was randomly searching the Interwebs and saw there’s going to be another book! Woot woot! It’s mainly about America and Maxon’s daughter, but maybe we’ll get to see a little bit of her parent’s happy-ever-after. Plus,… Read more »
