Hello? It’s me (Ashley). I was wondering after all these months if you’d like to read from me?
Haha. Oh man…I’ve been in a crazy funk the last 6-8 months. A lot of it has to do with work stress, but I was also hit with extremely delayed homesickness. You know what they say, if one part of your life is out of wack, it throws everything off. And, in my case it is so, so true.
I occasionally go through bouts of reader boredom, but I can usually bounce back after a few fluffy reads. However, for whatever reason, I was just not interested in reading…at all…not even graphic novels. Which scared me even more because it is so atypical.
So, I took a step way, way back from blogging. I was half-assing more recent posts, not keeping up on my TBR list or reviews and just wanted to cut something out, in the hopes I’d spring back.
Nothing was really working, so I went back to the basics: spring cleaning. I find when there’s clutter in my life, it affects my mental state as well. Not sure how the two correlate, but I needed to declutter my life, make some fresh goals so I could have a clean perspective on things.
Anyways, ye olde boyfriend was away for a week. Instead of being a couch potato and watching all the dumb, cheesy, girly shows I love [let’s be honest there was still a fair amount of this], I decided to make good use of my time by turning my apartment upside down.
Even in my teeny, tiny apartment, I was amazed by how much junk we’ve collected over the past year. I hate knick knacks and somehow they were all over the place! Not anymore. Trashed. Gone. Memory storage gained.
Bear with me, but my ramblings are leading somewhere.
I decided to apply this spring cleaning methodology to my reading. I’ve cleared out my TBR list, put a self ban on book-buying and have made the resolution to finish series or trilogies first, before starting on any new ones.
Here’s my plan:
How have you dealt with a book funk before?
